Network Installation

If your school uses a standard Windows network, you should only need to install the software once on your server (instead of installing the software on each individual machine on the network.)  As with all network installations, we recommend that only a suitably qualified technician carries out the work.

To install the software and make it available to users:

  • Log onto your server as administrator.
  • Install the software on your server as normal.
  • Now, still logged on as administrator, run the software on the server, and enter your registered e-mail address and activation code.
  • Once the software is successfully registered, you will be presented with the main page of The Worksheet King.
  • Quit the software.
  • Share out the installation directory, ensuring all users are provided with read-write access to the program’s directory, including its subdirectories.
  • Create a shortcut to the program file, ensuring it contains a full, network path to the executable (WSKCMP1.EXE) and call it “The Worksheet King”.  This is best done from a different computer.
The network path will contain the server’s name, followed by the directory you have shared out.  For example:  “\\MYSERVER\THEWORKSHEETKING\WSKCMP1.EXE”
If your shortcut points to a path such as “C:\PROGRAM FILES\THEWORKSHEETKING\WSKCMP1.EXE”, the shortcut will not work - it is telling the other computers on the network to look on their local ‘C’ drive for the program.
  • Copy the shortcut into the correct profile, so your teachers can see the program on their desktop, or in their start menu.

If your school uses a network (such as RM Connect) that requires programs to be delivered as packages, you may need to install the software as described in your network guide.

If your school provides laptops that your teachers use at home, you should install The Worksheet King on each laptop individually.

Although The Worksheet King has been rigorously tested, all installations are ultimately executed at the user’s own risk.
