Do you have to be especially computer-literate to use The Report King?

Not especially - if you are happy using a word processor or a spreadsheet, you should be fine. The program is presented as a simple "wizard", which will take you through the process of creating your reports in a step-by-step fashion. The program is also accompanied by a help file, which will explain in even greater detail how to use The Report King.
Remember, if you want to try before you buy, you can always download and run the free demonstration version of The Report King.

I have just downloaded The Report King and I'm being asked for an activation key. Where do I get one?

Your activation key will be e-mailed to you when you purchase The Report King. We aim to deliver activation keys within two working days of ordering. In order to help protect our customers from fraud, activation keys will be sent to the e-mail address you entered when purchasing the product. If you have not received your activation key within two working days, please e-mail simon@happymongoose.co.uk to resolve the difficulty.

I've just entered my activation code and The Report King has rejected it. What has gone wrong?

Make sure you have copied the activation key exactly as it was sent to you. (To save time, you can actually copy and paste this information from the e-mail and into The Report King. Highlight the activation code in your e-mail program, right-click the mouse, and select "Copy". In The Report King, right-click the mouse over the password box and select "Paste".)
Check your e-mail address - it also has to be entered perfectly (without any extra spaces or characters.)
Make sure you have entered the dashes as well as the letters.
Check you have downloaded the correct version of the program. Activation keys cannot be swapped between different versions of The Report King. This means that an activation key for Key Stage One will not work on the Key Stage Two version of the product. You can tell which version of the program you have installed by looking in the title bar when The Report King is running.

Can I purchase the program on CD?

Not at the moment. The way we are able to keep our prices so low is by providing The Report King digitally.

Does The Report King report on Modern Foreign Languages?

How long will it take me to produce my reports?

Our estimates, based on test runs with teaching colleagues, indicate you should have produced your reports within the hour.

Do I need Microsoft Word installed on my computer to use The Report King?

The latest version of The Report King does not require Microsoft Word to be installed on your computer to work. However, you will obviously require a word processor to open and edit files produced as Microsoft Word documents.
If you do not have Microsoft Word, one package worth considering is OpenOffice.org. OpenOffice.org is a free suite of programs that provide many of the same facilities as Microsoft Office (eg. a word processor, a spreadsheet, a presentation package.) OpenOffice.org is free, and is available from www.openoffice.org.
Remember that The Report King can also produce rich text documents, which can be opened and edited in a range of word processors.

Can The Report King produce school reports based on a Microsoft Publisher document or Excel spreadsheet?

Not at the moment. These will need to be re-formatted in a word processor to work with The Report King.

Why am I directed to a different website when I am about to make payment?

We are only a small company, and as such, we pass on credit-card processing to ProtX. Please be assured that this organisation has been chosen because of its reliable, secure and trustworthy reputation. After making your transaction, you will be returned to our website.

What is your policy on refunds and warranties?

Full details of our refunds and warranties policies are included in our end-user licence agreement.
When you purchase The Report King, we agree to deliver the software (via the website) and a product activation key (via e-mail) in return for your money. It is your responsibility to provide us with a working e-mail address, download the software from the website and enter your product activation key. It is also your responsibility to ensure that your computer has the correct specifications to run The Report King. Once an activation key is dispatched to your e-mail address, the contract is considered complete, and we will not consider refunds (except in the case of fraudulent transactions).
As with all software, The Report King is ultimately supplied "as is".
However, if you do experience any difficulties, please contact us. We want to make The Report King the best possible product, and will do our best to resolve any problems.

Does The Report King contain any spyware, malware, adware or viruses?

Not to our knowledge. To protect our customers, we always scan our software using up-to-date virus definitions before it is posted on the website.

Am I limited to producing a certain number of reports?

What is a single-user licence?

The single-user licence is intended for a single teacher who wishes to use the software independently. You may install The Report King on the one computer of your choice. If you wish to install the program on a second computer, you must uninstall it from the original computer first. For more information, see the end-user licence agreement.
Only one copy of each version of the program will be sold to a given e-mail address. Schools wishing to purchase the program to use will need to purchase a site licence.

What is a site licence?

The site licence is intended for a school that wants to make The Report King available to all its teachers. You may install The Report King on an unlimited number of the computers at the purchasing site. The licence also permits staff members to install the software on their home computers, as long as they agree to uninstall it should they ever leave employment with the purchasing organisation.
